Another summer has come and gone and although we live in AZ and our autumn may still feel like summer, the season of allergies colds and flu are not fooled by the weather.
With kids going back to school it’s only a matter of few weeks before a domino effect begins. One complaint of a soar throat or stuffy nose and all of the sudden the entire family starts singing the same tune.
So what can we do to arm our family with wellness? Health should be considered in everything we Do, Say, Drink, Eat & Feel. The following are some suggestions to consider.

So what can we do to arm our family with wellness? Health should be considered in everything we Do, Say, Drink, Eat & Feel. The following are some suggestions to consider.
ATTITUDE: Positive attitude that is! Start every morning with positive affirmations that will uplift your spirit and healing. Here are few examples:
- I allow my body to become an environment for health and healing
- Every cell in my body vibrates with healthy energy
- My body heals quickly and easily
- Today I am whole and complete
- I allow myself to enjoy every moment of every day
WATER: Per F. Batmanghelidj, M.D, “Water is the basis of all life and that includes your body. Your muscles that move your body are 75% water; your blood that transport nutrients is 82% water; your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water; your brain that is the control center of your body is 76% water; even your bones are 25% water. Our health is truly dependent on the quality and quantity of the water we drink.” So common sense would be if you want to have a healthy functioning body, drinking good quality and recommended amounts of water is a great start.
DIET: Here in the United States we have a variety of foods to choose from. We don’t eat with the seasons, we just eat. So why not take advantage of eating seasonal foods and during this time increasing eating fresh made soups and bone broth.
In an article written by Sally Fallon, "Broth is Beautiful" she writes, “Science validates what our grandmothers knew. Rich homemade chicken broths help cure colds. Stock contains minerals in a form the body can absorb easily—not just calcium but also magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulphur and trace minerals. It contains the broken down material from cartilage and tendons–stuff like chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine, now sold as expensive supplements for arthritis and joint pain.” Visit www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/broth-is-beautifulfor more information on benefits of bone broth and recipes.

EXERCISE: Do we really need a study to show that exercise boosts the immune system or can we agree that 20 to 30 min simple activity as walking every day would make you feel healthier and recover from illness faster? Well for myself I don’t need a study but do notice a difference in my wellness when I’m not taking the time to enjoy the outdoors. Also have seen enough family & friends recover from illness much faster when they push themselves to exercise. So take the time out of a busy schedule to enjoy 20 to 30 minutes of exercise that will uplift your soul.
ESSENTIAL OILS: Did you know using essential oils not only can boost your immune system but uplift your mood? In our family when anyone starts to comedown with symptoms of a cold or flu, I waste no time to increase the use of essential oils. This includes topical application, diffusing EO like eucalyptus and peppermint in the rooms, along with performing a Raindrop Therapy. These methods have helped our family to recovery without the use of medications.
So what is Raindrop Therapy? This therapy is a rejuvenating and deeply relaxing topical application of therapeutic essential oils.
